LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers conclude their three-game series Sunday evening at Dodger Stadium, with first pitch scheduled under cloudy skies and a temperature of 83 degrees. The Dodgers own the National League’s best record at 61-34 and are heavy favorites at -1.5 on the spread. Arizona enters at .500 (47-47) but arrives with momentum following a 9-3 victory in Friday’s series opener. Arizona first baseman Tim Tawa is a player to watch after a standout performance in that win. Tawa went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs on Friday, a stark contrast to his previous four games, in which he managed just one hit in 10 at-bats. Center fielder Andy Pages is a key bat for Los Angeles. Pages also recorded three hits, including a homer and an RBI, in Friday’s loss. Over his past 10 games, Pages is batting .268 (11-for-41) with two home runs and seven RBIs. The Dodgers are 19 games above .500 and have won seven of their last 10 overall, but they have dropped two of their last three series. Arizona has split its past 10 games. Friday’s series opener was also noteworthy for Arizona starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who earned the win by allowing two earned runs over six innings with five strikeouts. For the Dodgers, relievers Will Klein and Edgardo Henriquez each threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out two apiece. Head-to-head this season, the teams are 4-4 entering Sunday. The Diamondbacks won the most recent series in Los Angeles (June 2-4), taking two of three. The Dodgers swept a three-game set in Arizona in late March. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 Dodgers victory. The over/under is set at 9.5 runs. Following Sunday’s contest, the Dodgers embark on a seven-game road trip beginning Friday at the New York Yankees, followed by stops in Philadelphia and New York against the Mets. The Diamondbacks return home to host the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game series starting Friday.
