AP Sports Preview: Orioles Host Royals Aiming for Series Sweep BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Baltimore Orioles will seek a second straight victory over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT under a forecast of 81 degrees and rain. Baltimore (43-51) enters the matchup following a 3-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, a game in which left-hander Trevor Rogers delivered six strong innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts. The Orioles have won four of their last six games, a stretch that follows a five-game losing skid. Rogers, who has posted a 1.50 ERA over his last three starts while striking out 17 in 18 1/3 innings, is expected to take the mound Saturday. The 28-year-old has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his past four outings. Kansas City (38-56) dropped a 3-7 decision to the New York Mets on Thursday, falling to 2-3 on its current road trip. The Royals have lost seven of their last 10 games overall. Right-hander Lucas Erceg, who worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings in Thursday’s loss, has been a reliable bullpen arm, allowing one earned run over his last 4 2/3 innings. Shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. homered and drove in a run in Thursday’s defeat. The Orioles lead the season series 3-1, including a 3-2 win Friday in the opener of this three-game set. Baltimore has won each of the past two meetings. Interstat projections favor the Orioles by a 5-4 margin, and Baltimore enters as a -1.5 run favorite. The over/under is set at 9 runs. Following Saturday’s contest, the teams conclude the series Sunday afternoon. The Royals then return home for a six-game homestand against San Diego and San Francisco, while the Orioles begin a six-game road trip at Houston and Boston.
