MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners visit the Miami Marlins on Thursday at loanDepot Park in the finale of a three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. with clear skies and a temperature of 88 degrees. Seattle (47-45) has dropped the first two games of the series, losing 2-0 on Wednesday and 6-5 in 10 innings on Tuesday. The Mariners trail Miami (50-42) in the standings but remain within striking distance of a wild-card spot. Right-hander Bryan Woo (6-6, 4.21 ERA) will start for Seattle. Woo lost to Miami on Tuesday, allowing three earned runs on nine hits over five innings with five strikeouts. In his last five starts, Woo has a 5.14 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings. He threw seven innings of shutout ball against Baltimore on June 18 but allowed seven earned runs at Baltimore on June 11. Right-hander Max Meyer (8-4, 2.89 ERA) takes the mound for Miami. Meyer earned the win Tuesday against Seattle, giving up two earned runs on four hits over five innings with four strikeouts. He has been dominant over his past four starts, posting a 0.93 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 24 innings. Meyer threw a seven-inning shutout at St. Louis on June 26. In Tuesday’s game, second baseman Cole Young hit a home run for Seattle. Reliever Eduard Bazardo pitched a scoreless inning. For Miami, outfielder Owen Caissie homered and reliever Michael Petersen worked a scoreless inning. Interstat’s simulator projects a 7-5 Marlins victory. Seattle is a -1.5 favorite on the run line, with the over/under set at 8 runs. After Thursday, Seattle travels to Tampa Bay for a three-game series starting Friday. Miami returns home to host Cleveland for three games beginning Friday. NOTES: Woo has a 3-4 road record with a 4.50 ERA this season. Meyer is 5-2 at home with a 2.70 ERA. ...
