MARINERS AT MARLINS MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners and Miami Marlins meet Wednesday night at loanDepot Park in the second game of a three-game series, with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies and temperatures near 86 degrees. The Marlins (49-42) enter with a one-game winning streak after taking Tuesday’s series opener 4-2. Miami holds a two-game lead over the Mariners (47-44) in the interleague matchup. Right-hander Emerson Hancock (1-3, 5.14 ERA) is scheduled to start for Seattle. Hancock is coming off his best outing of the season, a 4-0 win Sunday against Toronto in which he pitched seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out five. The 27-year-old has been inconsistent this season, allowing five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to Boston on June 20, and six earned runs over four innings in a loss at Washington on June 14. Right-hander Eury Pérez (3-0, 1.10 ERA) will start for Miami. Pérez has been dominant in his three starts this season, most recently throwing seven hitless innings with eight strikeouts in a 9-8 win at on Sunday. The 23-year-old has allowed just one earned run over 17 innings this season, striking out 17 batters. Seattle is 4-2 in its past six games following a 10-game stretch through Sunday. The Mariners swept a three-game series against Toronto at home over the weekend, winning 4-0, 11-0 and losing 2-0. Prior to that, Seattle took three of four from the Los Angeles Angels at home. Miami is 7-3 in its past 10 games, including a three-game sweep at over the weekend. The Marlins won 9-8, 7-2 and 12-5 before splitting a four-game series at Colorado. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 victory for Miami. Following Wednesday’s game, the teams conclude the series Thursday afternoon. Seattle then travels to Tampa Bay for a three-game weekend series against the Rays. Miami returns home to host Cleveland for a three-game series beginning Friday.
