CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds play Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. EDT at Great American Ball Park. Philadelphia (50-41) enters after a 3-0 shutout of Cincinnati on Tuesday, its second straight win in the four-game series. The Phillies are coming off a 1-15 loss Monday at Kansas City but have won four of their last six. Cincinnati (41-48) dropped to nine games under .500 with Tuesday’s loss. The Reds have lost three of four overall. The forecast calls for 81 degrees with clouds. Right-hander Nick Lodolo is scheduled to start for the Reds. Lodolo (4-5, 3.72 ERA) is coming off a strong outing Sunday against Baltimore, allowing one run on six hits over six innings with four strikeouts in a 3-2 win. Over his last three starts, Lodolo has a 0.60 ERA, yielding one earned run in 15 innings while striking out 14. In five June starts, he posted a 3.15 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. The Phillies have not announced a starter but reliever Seth Johnson is a player to watch. Johnson has struggled recently, allowing two earned runs in 0.1 innings July 5 at Kansas City after a scoreless 0.2-inning appearance July 6. Over his last eight appearances dating to June 18, Johnson has a 6.75 ERA in 7.1 innings, with nine strikeouts and a 1.36 WHIP. Philadelphia has won three of four meetings this season, including two of three in Cincinnati from May 18-20. The Phillies outscored the Reds 9-4 in that series. Cincinnati’s offense has been inconsistent, scoring two or fewer runs in four of its last six games. The Phillies have scored at least three runs in five of their last seven. The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-4 Philadelphia win. Following Wednesday’s game, the Phillies continue their road trip Thursday in Cincinnati before traveling to Detroit for a three-game series beginning Friday. The Reds remain home to host Chicago for a three-game set starting Friday.
