SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners look to build on a dominating performance and even their weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday at T-Mobile Park. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PDT with the forecast calling for 69-degree temperatures and cloudy skies. Seattle enters the game with a 46-44 record, while the Blue Jays are 42-47, already trailing 1-0 in the four-game set after a 2-0 loss Friday. The Mariners (46-44) rebounded in a big way Saturday, routing Toronto 11-0. Right-hander Logan Gilbert was the story, tossing 7 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven. Gilbert (9-4) has been in excellent form recently. Over his last four starts, he has allowed just six earned runs in 26 2/3 innings, striking out 30. His most recent outing before Saturday was a 7-inning, four-earned-run effort in a loss at Cleveland. On the other side, the Blue Jays look to avoid dropping consecutive games. Saturday’s loss was a tough one, but the bullpen saw some bright spots. Reliever Braydon Fisher threw a scoreless inning, allowing no hits and striking out three. Fisher has been steady overall in his last several appearances. In his last six outings dating to June 22, he has allowed just two earned runs across 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10. He has been particularly effective in low-leverage spots, though he has struggled when called upon in high-stress situations, including a rough outing June 14 vs. the Yankees. The Blue Jays’ offense has been inconsistent. They managed just two runs Friday before being shut out Saturday. Toronto has lost seven of its last nine games overall. Seattle’s lineup has shown power recently. In Saturday’s win, left fielder Randy Arozarena went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, while designated hitter Dominic Canzone added a homer and three RBIs. The Interstat game simulator projects the Mariners as 6-3 winners. Seattle is a -1.5 favorite on the run line, while the over/under is set at 7.5 runs. Following this series, Toronto heads to San Francisco for three games, then to San Diego for three. Seattle travels to Miami for three before a three-game set at Tampa Bay.
