WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins visit the Athletics on Friday at Sutter Health Park, with both clubs seeking a turnaround after divergent results. The Marlins (46-42) enter having lost two straight, including a 14-4 drubbing at Colorado on Thursday. The Athletics (41-46) counter after a 7-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, snapping a four-game skid. Shortstop Otto Lopez has been a consistent bright spot for Miami. In Thursday’s loss, Lopez went 3-for-5, extending a stretch in which he has hit safely in seven of his last nine games. Over that span, he is 14-for-38 (.368) with two home runs and five RBIs. Lopez is also 8-for-18 in his last four contests. Right-hander J.T. Ginn takes the ball for the Athletics having pitched to a 2.08 ERA over his last three appearances. On Wednesday, he tossed six innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts. In his prior outing on June 26, Ginn pitched six innings in a win over the Los Angeles Angels, yielding three runs. He has gone at least five innings in each of his last five starts. The Athletics are listed as a -1.5 favorite. The over/under is 10 runs. Miami is coming off a 2-4 road trip through St. Louis and Colorado. The Athletics, meanwhile, ended a four-game losing streak with their victory over the Dodgers. The game marks the opener of a four-game set between the teams. A key matchup to watch: Ginn’s fastball against a Marlins lineup that has scored four or fewer runs in five of its last six games. Lopez, hitting from the top of the order, could be a catalyst. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-2 Marlins victory. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. local time.
