CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians, both with 45 wins, open a pivotal three-game series Friday night at Progressive Field. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. under clear skies with temperatures near 89 degrees. Chicago (45-40) enters after a 6-1 loss at Baltimore on Wednesday, snapping a modest two-game winning streak. Cleveland is installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of minus-1.5. The over/under is 8.5 runs. After Friday’s game, the series continues Saturday and Sunday. Chicago then returns home for a four-game set against Boston before the All-Star break. Cleveland travels to Minnesota for three games next week.
