MLB Preview: Mets at Blue Jays TORONTO (Interstat) — The New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays meet Wednesday afternoon at Rogers Centre for the final game of a three-game series. The Mets (35-50) have lost eight of their last 10 games. They dropped the series opener 2-1 on Monday and played to a scoreless tie Tuesday in a game suspended due to weather. Left-hander Sean Manaea (3-6, 4.10 ERA) is scheduled to start for New York. He took the loss Monday against Toronto, allowing two earned runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. In his last five starts, Manaea is 2-3 with a 3.75 ERA. Toronto (40-45) has lost five straight games since its 2-1 win over the Mets in Monday’s series opener. The Blue Jays are last in the American League East. Right-hander Trey Yesavage (6-4, 3.98 ERA) is set to start for Toronto. He earned the win Monday against the Mets, allowing one earned run on three hits over 6 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Yesavage has a 3.60 ERA over his last five starts. The Blue Jays have struggled offensively, scoring three runs or fewer in seven of their last 10 games. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 3-2 Toronto victory. The Mets are minus-1.5 favorites on the spread, with the over/under set at 8.5 runs. After Wednesday’s game, the Mets travel to Atlanta for a four-game series against the Braves beginning Friday. The Blue Jays open a three-game series Friday at Seattle.
