AP Sports Preview BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Chicago White Sox will seek a third consecutive win Wednesday afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. with temperatures expected at 89 degrees and cloudy conditions. Right-hander Sean Burke (5-2, 2.98 ERA) is set to start for Chicago, while Baltimore will counter with right-hander Shane Baz (3-6, 4.41 ERA). The White Sox (44-39) enter the series finale after winning the first two games, 8-2 on Monday and 9-3 on Tuesday. Chicago has won four of its past five games overall, including a stretch of three wins in four games against Cleveland last week. Baltimore (39-47) has lost four of its past five and dropped the last two matchups at home to the White Sox after splitting a four-game series in Chicago in April. Burke has been dominant in recent outings, winning his past three starts. On Monday against the Orioles, he allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings in an 8-2 victory. He also threw 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball against Cleveland on June 23 and 7 1/3 innings of one-run baseball at the New York Yankees on June 18. His lone loss in his past five starts came June 13 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Baz has struggled, losing four of his past five decisions. In Monday’s loss to the White Sox, he surrendered two earned runs on four hits over seven innings with six strikeouts. His previous outing June 23 at the Los Angeles Angels resulted in five earned runs on eight hits across five innings. Baz’s lone win in that span came June 12 against the San Diego Padres. Key performers from Monday’s win for Chicago included Jacob Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and reliever Grant Taylor, who tossed two scoreless innings. For Baltimore, reliever Josh Walker recorded 2/3 of a scoreless inning. The White Sox are scheduled to travel to Cleveland for a four-game series beginning Thursday. The Orioles will head to Cincinnati for a weekend series. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Chicago victory.
