BOSTON (Interstat) — The Washington Nationals look to even their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. at Fenway Park. Washington (43-42) enters the game one game above .500 after dropping the series opener 6-1 on Monday. Boston (36-46) has won four straight games and six of its last seven to pull within 6 1/2 games of last place in the AL East. The forecast calls for clear skies and a game-time temperature of 73 degrees. Players to watch Nationals second baseman Luis García Jr. carries a scorching bat into the matchup. Over his last 10 games, García is batting .419 (13-for-31) with seven home runs and 10 RBIs. He was particularly dominant in a three-game series at Baltimore over the weekend, going 7-for-11 with three homers and six RBIs. In Sunday’s 6-4 win over the Orioles, García went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Red Sox right-hander Sonny Gray has been nearly unhittable of late. In his last two starts, Gray has allowed one earned run over 14 1/3 innings while striking out 20. He threw 7 1/3 innings of one-hit ball with nine strikeouts in a 5-4, 10-inning win over the New York Yankees on Sunday. Gray is 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA over his last six starts. Recent history Boston took the series opener Monday behind a strong start from Brayan Bello, who allowed one run over seven innings. The Red Sox have won three consecutive meetings with the Nationals dating to last season. Projected outcome The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-4 Red Sox victory. Up next The two-game series concludes Wednesday afternoon before Washington returns home to host Pittsburgh for a three-game weekend set. Boston heads to Los Angeles for a three-game series against the Angels beginning Friday.
