KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Interstat) β€” The Tampa Bay Rays, winners of four of their last five, aim to continue their dominance over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. CDT under cloudy skies and 88-degree heat. Tampa Bay (48-33) enters as a -1.5 favorite, with the over/under set at 10.5 runs, according to Interstat. The simulator projects a 7-5 Rays victory. Right-hander Drew Rasmussen is Tampa Bay’s player to watch after a dominant start Sunday against Arizona. In a 5-1 win, Rasmussen (6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 5 K) improved to 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA over his past three outings covering 20 innings. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in each of his last five starts, amassing 39 strikeouts against two walks in that span. Opposite Rasmussen will be a Royals bullpen likely leaning on right-hander Alex Lange. Lange, who earned a win Sunday at Chicago (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER), has been effective in seven of his last nine appearances, allowing one earned run across 7 2/3 innings in those outings. However, he was tagged for five earned runs in one-third of an inning on Friday against the White Sox. The Royals (35-50) are reeling after a 22-1 loss Friday but rebounded with back-to-back one-run wins. They took the series opener in Tampa Bay on June 22, a 2-1 victory, but the Rays answered with a 13-2 rout on June 25 before taking two of three at home. Tampa Bay catcher/third baseman Junior Caminero went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in Sunday’s win. Reliever Craig Kimbrel also tossed a scoreless inning. Kansas City catcher Carter Jensen drove in two runs Sunday. Reliever Steven Cruz struck out one in a scoreless inning. The teams continue the four-game series Wednesday and Thursday before Tampa Bay travels to Houston, and Kansas City hosts Philadelphia.
