Baseball Preview: Tigers at Yankees NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees meet Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium II, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. under cloudy skies and 80-degree temperatures. Detroit (35-49) enters the game after a 7-0 shutout of the Yankees on Monday, snapping a four-game losing streak. The Tigers dropped two of three to Houston over the weekend, including a 7-5, 10-inning loss Sunday. New York (48-35) has lost four of its last five, including a 5-4, 10-inning loss at Boston on Sunday. The Yankees took two of three from Detroit last week in Detroit. Players to watch: For Detroit, shortstop Zach McKinstry went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs on Sunday, and Spencer Torkelson had two hits and two RBIs as a pinch hitter and designated hitter. For New York, relievers David Bednar and Paul Blackburn each threw two scoreless innings Sunday. After Tuesday, the teams play again Wednesday. Detroit then travels to Texas for three games, followed by a six-game homestand against Oakland and Philadelphia. New York hosts Minnesota for three games beginning Friday, then travels to Tampa Bay and Washington.
