PHOENIX (Interstat) β The San Francisco Giants open a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night at Chase Field, looking to reverse a season-long trend of struggles against their NL West rivals. San Francisco (35-48) enters at the bottom of the division, but arrives with momentum after taking two of three from the Atlanta Braves over the weekend. The Giants capped that series with a 3-2 victory Sunday, handing the ball to left-hander Robbie Ray, who has been electric of late. Ray (4-2) allowed no earned runs over eight innings Sunday, scattering four hits with two strikeouts. The performance extended a remarkable run: Over his past five starts, all victories, he has surrendered only one earned run with a 0.40 ERA, striking out 23 in 33 innings. His lone blemish in that span came against Washington on June 10, when he gave up five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. Arizona (41-42) has dropped four straight, including a 5-1 loss at Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Diamondbacks have been swept twice in their past three series, but they have owned the Giants this season. Arizona has won all six meetings in 2026, outscoring San Francisco 39-15, including a three-game sweep at Chase Field in May and a three-game sweep at Oracle Park last week. Second baseman Ketel Marte has been a bright spot for Arizona. He homered Sunday β his third in four games β and is hitting .281 with 10 home runs and 38 RBIs this season. In 10 games since June 17, Marte is batting .367 with four homers and eight RBIs. Interstatβs game simulator projects a 5-4 final in favor of the Giants. Arizona is installed as a -1.5 favorite on the run line, with an over/under of 8.5. The series continues Tuesday and Wednesday before each team heads out for holiday weekend trips. The Giants travel to Colorado; the Diamondbacks host Milwaukee.
