PREVIEW: Marlins at Rockies DENVER (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins begin a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Monday night at Coors Field, looking to build on a strong stretch that has pushed them above .500. Miami (44-40) arrives after splitting a four-game set in St. Louis, winning the first two before dropping the final two, including a 2-1 loss Sunday. The Marlins have been a different team on the road, winning eight of their past 11 away from home. Colorado (33-51) has lost four of five, including Sunday’s 3-2 defeat in Minnesota. The Rockies own the worst record in the National League and have struggled to generate consistent offense, particularly at home where they are 16-25. Right-hander Tyler Phillips is scheduled to start for Miami. Phillips (1-4, 4.99 ERA) has been inconsistent but delivered a quality start Sunday in St. Louis, allowing two earned runs over 7 1/3 innings in a hard-luck loss. He struck out only one but scattered six hits. The outing followed a rough patch in which he surrendered eight earned runs in four innings at Philadelphia on June 16. Phillips faced the Rockies once last season and did not factor in the decision. Right-hander Ryan Feltner opposes for Colorado. Feltner (3-6, 4.73 ERA) has been sharp recently, allowing one earned run over six innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Sunday. He has a 2.70 ERA over his past three starts, striking out 13 in 16 2/3 innings. Feltner pitched five innings of two-run ball in a loss at Miami this March. The teams met in Miami for three games during the opening weekend of the season, with the Marlins winning each time by scores of 4-3, 4-3 and 2-1. The series was decided by a combined five runs. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Miami 7, Colorado 5. Tuesday’s game is the second of the four-game set, followed by a day game Wednesday and a matinee Thursday. The Marlins then travel to Oakland for a three-game weekend series against the Athletics. The Rockies continue a homestand that includes three games against San Francisco beginning Friday. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. MDT.
