DETROIT (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers meet Sunday in the finale of a four-game series at Comerica Park, with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m. EDT. The forecast calls for 78 degrees and cloudy. Houston (41-44) holds a 2-1 lead in the series after an 8-6 victory Saturday. The Astros are projected as -1.5 favorites according to Interstat’s game simulator, which forecasts a 6-4 Houston win. The over/under is 7.5 runs. Right-hander Josh Hader has been dominant for Houston, particularly against the Tigers. Over his past 10 appearances, Hader has allowed one earned run in 10 innings, striking out 12. He earned the win Saturday with a scoreless inning, and has not allowed an earned run in his last five outings spanning five innings. In two appearances against Detroit this season, Hader has allowed one run over two innings with four strikeouts. For Detroit (35-48), outfielder Kerry Carpenter has been the offensive catalyst. Carpenter homered and drove in four runs in Saturday’s loss, going 2-for-4. In the series, he is 3-for-12 with two home runs and six RBIs. Over his past 10 games, Carpenter is batting .240 (6-for-25) with two home runs and seven RBIs. The Tigers won the series opener 8-0 on Friday before Houston rebounded with a 2-1 victory Thursday and Saturday’s 8-6 win. Following Sunday’s game, Houston travels home to begin a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Detroit visits the New York Yankees for a three-game set starting Monday.
