(Interstat) — Diamondbacks at Rays Sunday, June 28, 2026 1:35 p.m., George Steinbrenner Field, Tampa, Fla. Forecast: 92 degrees, rain The Tampa Bay Rays will attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon, pushing for their fifth consecutive victory at George Steinbrenner Field. Tampa Bay (46-33) has dominated the series’ first two games, outscoring Arizona 10-2. The Rays won 4-1 on Saturday and 6-1 on Friday, with right-hander Nick Martinez (3-2, 5.14 ERA) earning the victory in the opener. Martinez allowed one earned run on six hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out three. Martinez will start Sunday’s finale. He is 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA over his past three outings, most recently beating Washington on June 21 (6 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 5 K). Arizona (41-40) will counter with right-hander Zac Gallen (1-4, 7.23 ERA over his last five starts), who has struggled mightily. Gallen took the loss Friday, surrendering five earned runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings. In his prior start June 20 against Minnesota, he allowed nine earned runs in four innings. The Diamondbacks have lost four of their past five games. Their offense managed only one run in each of the first two games of this series, with shortstop Geraldo Perdomo providing their only bright spot Friday with a home run and two hits. Tampa Bay has won seven of its past 10 games. Third baseman Junior Caminero drove in three runs Friday with a home run, and center fielder Cedric Mullins added a solo shot. Sunday’s forecast calls for temperatures in the low 90s with rain possible throughout the afternoon, potentially affecting pitching strategy and outfield conditions. The tarp remained on the field during batting practice Saturday, though no delay was necessary. Arizona begins a six-game homestand Monday against San Francisco. Tampa Bay travels to Kansas City on Tuesday for a four-game series before visiting Houston. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 Tampa Bay victory.
