NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies aim to continue their dominance of the National League East when they face the New York Mets on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field. Philadelphia (45-36) arrives with a sizzling offense after taking three of four from the Washington Nationals, capped by a 10-5 victory Thursday. The Phillies have won six of their last seven games and boast the second-best record in the division, trailing only Atlanta. The Mets (34-46) have lost four of their last five, including a 4-3, 10-inning defeat to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. New York sits in fourth place in the NL East, 11.5 games behind the Braves. The forecast calls for 81 degrees with clouds. Players to watch Phillies left fielder Brandon Marsh has been on a tear. Over his last four games, Marsh is hitting .412 (7 for 17) with three home runs and six RBIs. He went 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs in Thursday’s win over Washington. In eight games against the Mets this season, Marsh is 6 for 28 (.214) with one home run and three RBIs. Mets right-hander Freddy Peralta (1-3, 5.40 ERA) will be making his second start since returning from a brief stint in the bullpen. Peralta pitched well Thursday against the Cubs, allowing five hits and no earned runs over 5 2/3 innings with five strikeouts. However, his last outing against Philadelphia on June 20 was a disaster: 2 2/3 innings, 10 hits, 10 earned runs in a 15-3 loss. Series history The Phillies and Mets have split the season series 2-2 after Friday’s 1-1 tie, which was called due to rain after seven innings. Philadelphia has won two of the three completed games, including a 15-3 rout on June 20 and a 6-2 victory on June 21. New York’s lone win came June 18, a 6-4 decision at Citizens Bank Park. What’s at stake Philadelphia is looking to build momentum heading into a 10-game homestand that begins Monday against Pittsburgh. The Mets, meanwhile, are trying to snap a streak of five losses in their last six games and avoid falling further behind in the division. Projection Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-3 Phillies victory.
