Yankees at Red Sox Preview BOSTON (Interstat) — The New York Yankees (48-32) visit the Boston Red Sox (33-46) on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. EDT. The forecast calls for rain and a temperature of 76 degrees. Right-hander Cam Schlittler (5-4, 2.89 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Yankees. In his most recent outing Thursday against the Red Sox, Schlittler did not factor into the decision in a 6-3 loss, allowing five hits and no earned runs over five innings while striking out nine. In three June starts against Boston, he has a 1.08 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings. Left-hander Connelly Early (4-6, 4.58 ERA) will start for the Red Sox. He earned the win Thursday against the Yankees, allowing five hits and two earned runs over six innings with nine strikeouts. That start was a bounce-back effort after two consecutive losses in which he allowed 10 earned runs over 9 1/3 innings. The Red Sox have won the first two games of this four-game series, including a 4-0 shutout Friday. Boston has taken three of the past four meetings after the Yankees won four straight in the season series from April 21-23. The Yankees are 4-3 against the Red Sox this season overall. New York has lost three of its past four games but remains atop the American League East. Boston has won three of four and is in last place in the division. Players to watch for the Yankees include left fielder José Caballero, who hit a home run Thursday, and right-hander Tim Hill, who pitched a scoreless inning in that game. For the Red Sox, third baseman Caleb Durbin homered and drove in two runs Thursday. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Yankees victory. The series concludes Sunday. The Yankees then return home to host Detroit for three games. Boston hosts Washington for three games starting Monday.
