ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins visit Busch Stadium III on Saturday to face the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a weekend series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. under a forecast of 76 degrees and rain. Miami (42-39) enters the game three games behind the Cardinals (42-36) in the National League wild-card race. The Marlins have won three of their last four, including a 4-2 victory over Texas on Wednesday. Right-hander Eury Pérez (2-1, 3.12 ERA) is expected to start for Miami. In his last outing Wednesday, Pérez allowed one earned run on three hits over 4 2/3 innings, striking out one. St. Louis has lost four of its last six, most recently a 9-4 defeat to Arizona on Wednesday. First baseman/third baseman Blaze Jordan has been the Cardinals’ most productive hitter this week, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs in that loss. Over his last 10 games, Jordan is batting .222 (6 for 27) with seven RBIs. The series opened Friday night with a scoreless tie. The clubs split a three-game set in Miami from April 20-22, with the Marlins winning 5-3 and 4-1, and the Cardinals taking the middle game 5-3. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 victory for Miami. After Saturday’s game, the teams conclude the series Sunday. Miami then travels to Colorado for four games, followed by a three-game series at the Athletics. St. Louis visits Atlanta for three games starting Tuesday, then goes to Chicago for three against the Cubs.
