CHICAGO (Interstat) β The Kansas City Royals will try to snap a two-game skid Saturday evening against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. under cloudy skies and a temperature of 64 degrees. The White Sox (41-38) hold a seven-game lead over the Royals (34-48) in the American League Central standings. Chicago has won the first two games of this four-game series, including a 4-0 shutout Friday. The Royals have lost four of their past five games and are coming off a 13-2 defeat Thursday at Tampa Bay. Catcher Carter Jensen has been Kansas Cityβs most consistent hitter over the past two weeks. In his past 10 games, Jensen is batting .304 (7-for-23) with three home runs and six RBIs. He went 4-for-4 with a home run and an RBI on June 17 at Washington. Jensen homered Thursday at Tampa Bay, going 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the loss. For the White Sox, left-handed reliever Chris Murphy has been sharp of late. Over his past six appearances, Murphy has allowed one earned run in 5 1/3 innings while striking out eight. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings Wednesday against Cleveland. The White Sox have owned the season series, winning seven of eight meetings. Chicago has won the past three games against Kansas City, all at home. Chicago is coming off a 4-3, 10-inning loss to Cleveland on Wednesday, snapping a three-game winning streak. The Royals have lost 10 of their past 13 games overall and are last in the AL Central. Kansas Cityβs offense has struggled, scoring two runs or fewer in five of its past seven games. The Royals are averaging 3.9 runs per game, among the lowest in the league. The White Sox are 22-16 at home this season. Kansas City is 16-26 on the road. A computer simulation by Interstat projects a 5-4 White Sox victory. The series continues Sunday before the Royals return home to face Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
