DETROIT (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers will conclude a six-game season series Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park, with Houston holding a 3-2 edge after splitting the first two games of this four-game set. The Astros (40-43) send right-hander Tatsuya Imai to the mound. Imai has been dominant recently, including a 2-1 win over the Tigers on Thursday in which he allowed two hits and no earned runs over six innings with 10 strikeouts. In his last four starts, the Japanese righty is 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA — though he was tagged for five earned runs in 0.2 innings June 12 at Kansas City. For the season, Imai is 6-4 with a 3.44 ERA. Detroit (34-47) counters with righty Troy Melton, who took the loss in Thursday’s game despite a quality start: six innings, two hits, one earned run, six strikeouts. Melton (4-6, 3.78 ERA) has won three of his past four decisions, including a complete-game eight-inning effort June 3 at Tampa Bay. He allowed eight hits and four earned runs in five innings June 9 against Minnesota. The Tigers broke a four-game losing streak Friday with an 8-0 rout of Houston, scoring eight runs on 12 hits. Thursday’s 2-1 Astros win featured a home run by center fielder Taylor Trammell. Saturday’s forecast calls for 74 degrees and clouds. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Astros victory. Houston is 2-3 on a seven-game road trip that continues Sunday at Detroit before returning home to face Minnesota. The Tigers will head to New York for a four-game series against the Yankees beginning Monday.
