Preview: N.Y. Yankees at Boston Red Sox BOSTON (Interstat) — The New York Yankees aim to bounce back from Thursday’s 4-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox when the rivals meet Friday at 7:10 p.m. at Fenway Park. The Yankees (48-31) have the best record in the American League, while the Red Sox (32-46) sit in last place in the AL East. Friday’s forecast calls for clouds and 74 degrees. Lefty Ryan Weathers (1-4, 5.52 ERA) starts for New York. He earned his first win Wednesday at Detroit, allowing one run over six innings with six strikeouts. The Red Sox have lost four of five head-to-head meetings this season. New York won games April 21 (4-0), April 22 (4-1), April 23 (4-2) and June 7 (6-1). The Red Sox won June 5 (5-3). Yankees first baseman Paul Goldschmidt homered twice and drove in two runs Wednesday at Detroit. Red Sox center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela went 3-for-5 with an RBI and catcher Connor Wong homered and drove in two runs in Wednesday’s 8-6 loss at Colorado. New York is 7-3 in its last 10 games and 23-17 on the road. Boston is 3-7 in its last 10 and 16-24 at home. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-3 Yankees win. New York is a -1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over/under is 8.5 runs. Following Friday, the teams play Saturday and Sunday at Fenway.
