DETROIT (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers meet again Friday night at Comerica Park, with the Astros seeking a third straight win in the four-game series. Houston (39-43) took a 2-1 lead in the series Thursday, backing a strong start from right-hander Mike Burrows. The 25-year-old is expected to be a key factor again, though the Astros have not announced a starter for the series finale. Burrows has been Houston’s most consistent pitcher of late. He earned the win Thursday, allowing one earned run on two hits over six innings with three strikeouts against Toronto. Over his past three outings, he has posted a 3.38 ERA across 12 innings, with wins in two of those starts after a rough patch in early June. Detroit (34-46) has dropped four of its last five games. Left-hander Tarik Skubal is scheduled to take the mound Friday. Skubal has been sharp despite a lack of run support. He struck out nine over six innings Wednesday against the New York Yankees but took the loss, allowing four earned runs. In three June starts, Skubal has a 3.38 ERA with 21 strikeouts over 16 1/3 innings. The Tigers have struggled offensively, scoring two or fewer runs in four of their past six games. Houston has won three of four meetings between the clubs this season, outscoring Detroit 13-14 in that span.
