Preview: Phillies at Nationals WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies will try to snap a two-game skid Wednesday night when they face the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature of 73 degrees. Philadelphia (42-36) will send right-hander Miles Mikolas (2-6, 4.89 ERA) to the mound. Mikolas has struggled this season, with his last win coming May 28 against San Francisco. He has not faced Washington in 2026. Washington (41-38) has not named a starter for Wednesday’s game, but left-hander Foster Griffin has been the club’s most dominant arm of late. Griffin earned the win Monday in the series opener, holding the Phillies to one run over 7 1/3 innings while striking out nine. The Nationals have won the first two games of this four-game series, taking Monday’s contest 4-1 and Tuesday’s 5-2. Washington has won three of its last four overall and has outscored Philadelphia 9-3 in the series. Philadelphia has lost two straight after a 6-2 homestand against the Mets and Marlins. The Phillies have dropped three of their last four on the road. Players to Watch Phillies right-hander Alan Rangel pitched five innings in Monday’s loss, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts. Rangel has been sharp in his past two outings, posting a 1.80 ERA over 10 innings. Nationals left-hander Foster Griffin has been nearly untouchable. Over his last five starts, Griffin is 4-1 with a 1.91 ERA, striking out 11.3 batters per nine innings. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in each of those five outings. By the Numbers The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 Washington victory. The Phillies are installed as -1.5 favorites on the run line, with an over/under of 9 runs. Upcoming Schedule Philadelphia continues its road trip Thursday at Washington before traveling to New York for a three-game set against the Mets. The Phillies return home June 29 to host the Pirates. Washington hosts Philadelphia for the series finale Thursday, then travels to Baltimore for a weekend series against the Orioles. The Nationals begin a road trip June 29 in Boston.
