PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, June 23, at PNC Park for the opener of a three-game interleague series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies and a temperature of 69 degrees. Right-hander George Kirby (5-7) will start for Seattle. Right-hander Mitch Keller (5-4) will start for Pittsburgh. The Mariners (40-39) enter on a modest roll, having won three of their last four games. They defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-1 on Sunday, with right-hander Logan Gilbert earning the win. Gilbert (W, 3-1) allowed one earned run on three hits over 6.1 innings, striking out eight. Outfielder Dominic Canzone added a home run and two RBIs. Gilbert has been one of Seattle’s hottest arms. In his past four starts (Interstat) — all wins (Interstat) — he has allowed one earned run or fewer, compiling a 1.13 ERA with 29 strikeouts over 24.2 innings. Over his last six outings, Gilbert has posted a 5-0 record. The Pirates (39-39) have dropped two of three. They beat the Colorado Rockies 8-6 on Sunday, with designated hitter Bryan Reynolds going 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Reynolds has been productive of late, hitting safely in six of his last eight games with two home runs and seven RBIs. Seattle has won three of the last four meetings between the clubs, though they last met in 2023. On the betting line, Seattle is a -1.5 run-line favorite. The over/under is set at 8.5 total runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 victory for the Mariners. The series continues Wednesday and Thursday at PNC Park before Seattle travels to Cleveland for a three-game set beginning Friday.
