MLB Preview: Athletics at Giants OAKLAND (Interstat) — The Oakland Athletics visit Oracle Park on Tuesday, June 23, to open a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. PDT. The Athletics (38-40) send left-hander Robbie Ray (5-6, 4.28 ERA) to the mound. Ray will look to rebound from a June 14 start against Colorado in which he allowed five runs over four innings in a 23-9 loss. He has not recorded a victory since May 31. The Giants (31-46) counter with right-hander Logan Webb (5-6, 3.01 ERA), who has been the club’s most consistent starter. Webb did not factor into the decision Sunday at Miami, allowing two earned runs over eight innings while striking out five in a 2-1 loss. Over his past four starts, Webb has a 1.00 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 31 innings. Oakland is coming off a 9-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. First baseman Nick Kurtz homered and drove in three runs. Pitcher Jack Perkins, listed as a player to watch, worked five innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts in a no-decision. Perkins has struggled recently, posting a 6.35 ERA over his past four outings, spanning 18 innings. San Francisco lost 2-1 at Miami on Sunday, managing just three hits. Outfielder Casey Schmitt went 2-for-4 with an RBI. The Giants have lost five of their past six games. The teams last met May 15-17 in Oakland, with the Giants taking two of three, including a 10-1 win in the series finale. The Interstat game simulator projects a 5-3 Athletics victory. Oakland is installed as a -1.5 run-line favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5 total runs. Following this three-game set, Oakland travels to face the Los Angeles Angels for three games starting Friday. San Francisco returns home to host the Atlanta Braves for a three-game series beginning Friday.
