PREVIEW: Astros at Royals KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals meet Saturday at Kauffman Stadium, with first pitch at 7:10 p.m. ET under clear skies and 79 degrees. Houston (31-39) sends right-hander Mike Burrows (3-8, 5.12 ERA) to the mound, looking to snap a two-game losing streak. The Astros fell 3-2 in 10 innings to the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, despite a strong outing from Peter Lambert, who allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. Lambert has been one of Houston’s most reliable arms recently, going 3-1 over his last five appearances with a 3.25 ERA. Since May 17, he has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four of five outings. Kansas City (28-41) counters with left-hander Noah Cameron (3-4, 4.38 ERA). The Royals have lost three straight, including a 4-2 defeat to Texas on Thursday. Right-hander Beck Way tossed two scoreless innings of relief in that game, striking out four while allowing two hits. Way has been effective in his last two outings, striking out six over three scoreless innings, though he was touched for four runs in a June 7 appearance at Minnesota. The Royals won the opener of this three-game series 3-0 on Friday, snapping a seven-game home losing streak to the Astros. Kansas City has won five of its last seven at Kauffman Stadium. Houston’s offense has struggled, scoring two runs or fewer in four of its last five games. The Astros are 29th in the majors in runs per game (3.9). Kansas City has also scuffled at the plate, ranking 27th in scoring (4.1 runs per game). But the Royals have shown signs of life, plating five or more runs in three of their last six games. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Royals victory. Kansas City is a -1.5 run-line favorite, and the over/under is nine runs. After Saturday’s game, the teams close the series Sunday before Houston returns home to face Detroit and Kansas City visits Washington.
