AP Sports Preview SEATTLE (Interstat) — The New York Mets and Seattle Mariners continue their series Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park, with the Mets looking to build momentum after a four-game win streak and the Mariners aiming to stay hot in the American League West. The Mets (26-33) will start right-hander Logan Gilbert (3-4), who has struggled with consistency this season. Gilbert’s last outing was a 5-2 loss to Cincinnati on May 26, where he allowed five runs in four innings. Seattle has not announced its starter. Right-hander Nolan McLean is a player to watch for the Mets. McLean pitched five innings of two-hit ball, allowing one earned run and striking out two in a 10-1 win over Miami on May 31. He has been erratic, however, giving up seven earned runs in 3⅓ innings in a loss to the Reds on May 25, and six earned runs in 5⅔ innings at Washington on May 19. In his five most recent starts, McLean is 3-2 with a 5.36 ERA. The Mariners (31-29) enter the game on a six-win surge in their last seven contests. Right-hander Bryce Miller is a key figure for Seattle. Miller tossed five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out six in a 3-2, 10-inning win over Arizona on May 31. In his previous start, he gave up two earned runs over five innings in a 9-2 victory at Oakland. Over his last four outings, Miller has a 2.13 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 20⅔ innings. The two teams played Monday, with the game ending in a 0-0 tie after the scheduled nine innings. No further details were provided. The Mets’ offense has shown life recently, scoring 10 runs against Miami on Sunday. Left fielder Juan Soto homered and drove in four runs in that game. The Mets also got a strong relief appearance from left-hander David Peterson, who threw four scoreless innings. Seattle’s Dominic Canzone hit a solo homer and drove in a run in the win over Arizona. The Mariners have relied on solid pitching and timely hitting during their hot stretch, including a four-game sweep of Oakland last week. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 Mariners victory. After Tuesday, the Mets travel to San Diego for a three-game series starting Friday, while the Mariners head to Detroit for a weekend set against the Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. local time.
