NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins and New York Mets will meet Saturday evening at Citi Field in the second game of a four-game series. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. under cloudy skies, with temperatures expected near 75 degrees. Miami, which entered the game 26-31, will start right-hander Tyler Phillips (0-0). The Mets, 23-33, had not announced a starter as of Friday night. New York evened the series Friday with a 5-2 victory, snapping Miami’s three-game winning streak in the season series. The Marlins had swept a three-game set from the Mets in Miami from May 22-24, winning 2-1, 4-1 and 4-0. Players to watch For Miami, shortstop Eury Pérez has been effective in recent outings. In his last start Wednesday at Toronto, he struck out nine over four scoreless innings in a 2-1 loss. He earned a win on May 22 against the Mets, allowing one run over 6 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. Pérez has 33 strikeouts over his past five appearances. For the Mets, right-hander Jonah Tong has been sharp in limited work. He threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings Wednesday against Cincinnati in a 4-2 win, striking out one. On May 22 at Miami, he allowed no hits and two walks over three scoreless innings, striking out two. Recent results Miami dropped its series finale at Toronto on Wednesday, 2-1, despite strong pitching from Pérez and a 4-for-4 day from shortstop Otto Lopez. The Marlins won the first two games of that series before the loss. The Mets took the final game of their home series against Cincinnati on Wednesday, 4-2. Left fielder Juan Soto went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Projection and betting line Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-2 Marlins victory. The Mets opened as -1.5 run-line favorites. The over/under for the game is 7.5 runs. Next up The series concludes Sunday afternoon. Miami then travels to Washington for a three-game set beginning Monday. The Mets will head to Seattle for a three-game series starting Monday.
