SEATTLE (Interstat) – The Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Seattle Mariners on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. at T-Mobile Park, with both teams looking to build momentum after series-opening wins earlier this week. Right-hander Ryne Nelson (2-3, 4.01 ERA) will start for Arizona (31-24), while Seattle (28-29) counters with right-hander Bryan Woo (4-3, 3.80 ERA). Nelson is coming off a no-decision May 24 against Colorado in which he allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Woo earned a win his last time out, May 22 at Kansas City, tossing 5 2/3 scoreless innings. The Diamondbacks enter having won four of their last five games, including a 3-2 victory Wednesday at San Francisco. Right-hander Michael Soroka, who will not start Saturday, has been a key contributor; over his last six outings (all starts), he owns a 1.93 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings. Soroka earned the win Wednesday, allowing two earned runs over six innings. The Mariners have won three straight, most recently a 9-1 rout Wednesday at Oakland. Right-hander Logan Gilbert, also slated to pitch later in the series, has been dominant of late. In his last two starts, he has allowed one earned run over 11 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts. These teams opened their three-game series Friday with a scoreless tie that was suspended after nine innings. Arizona swept a three-game set at home against Seattle last season and has won five of the last seven meetings overall. Saturday’s game features several notable players. For Arizona, outfielder Corbin Carroll is batting .312 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs. Seattle center fielder Julio Rodríguez has hit .284 with 12 homers and 38 RBIs, including a three-run homer Wednesday. Arizona’s pitching staff ranks fourth in the NL with a 3.55 ERA, while Seattle’s offense has struggled, ranking 12th in the AL in runs per game (4.1). The game will be the second of the three-game series. The Diamondbacks return home Monday for a six-game homestand against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals. The Mariners continue their homestand Monday with a four-game series against the New York Mets. The Interstat game simulator projects an 8-5 Arizona victory. Seattle is a minus-1.5 run favorite on the spread, with the over/under set at 7.
