LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The reeling Colorado Rockies and the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers open a two-game series Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Colorado (20-34) has lost four straight and seven of nine, falling to the bottom of the division. The Rockies are expected to start left-hander Kyle Freeland (1-5), though the club also listed Eric Lauer (1-5) as a probable, leaving some uncertainty in the rotation. Either way, Colorado will send a struggling arm to the mound against a Dodgers lineup that leads the majors in runs. Los Angeles (33-20) has won six of its last eight, including a 5-1 victory at Milwaukee on Sunday. Right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been a key factor, earning the win with seven strong innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out three. Over his last two outings, Yamamoto has a 1.29 ERA, tossing seven innings in each start. Yamamoto is a pitcher to watch for the Dodgers, having dominated earlier this month as well. He struck out eight in a win at Houston on May 4. Over his last four starts, he has 27 strikeouts in 26.1 innings. For Colorado, right-hander Blas Castaño, who made a relief appearance in Sunday’s 9-1 loss at Arizona, is a player to watch. He has allowed just one earned run in each of his last three outings, covering 8 innings, but the Rockies have lost all three games. The Dodgers took three of four from Colorado in a series April 17-20 at Coors Field, outscoring the Rockies 28-17. That included a 12-3 blowout in the finale. Monday’s game between the teams was postponed due to weather. This will be the first meeting in Los Angeles since the Dodgers went 6-1 at home against Colorado in 2025. The interstat game simulator projects a 7-3 Dodgers victory. Los Angeles is a -1.5 run favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5. Following Tuesday’s game, the teams meet again Wednesday before the Dodgers host Philadelphia for a weekend series and Colorado heads to San Francisco. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
