CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians conclude a three-game series Sunday afternoon at Progressive Field, with the first-place Reds aiming to secure a sweep before heading on the road. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. The forecast calls for rain and a temperature of 67 degrees. Cincinnati (24-21) has won the first two games of the series, taking Friday’s opener 7-6 and playing to a 4-4 tie Saturday in a game that was suspended. The Reds have won four of their last five overall. Left-hander Joey Cantillo (3-1, 3.86 ERA) is scheduled to start for Cincinnati. The 25-year-old has been a steady presence in the rotation after being recalled earlier this season. He has not faced Cleveland this year. Right-hander Brady Singer (2-3, 4.50 ERA) had been scheduled to start, but the Reds swapped rotation spots Saturday to give Cantillo an extra day of rest. Singer will likely go in the upcoming series at Philadelphia. Cleveland (24-22) has not announced its starter. The Guardians have dropped three of four after winning four straight. Right-hander Tanner Bibee, who started and took the loss Friday, is a player to watch for Cleveland. In that outing, he allowed three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. Despite the loss, Bibee has posted a 2.84 ERA over his last two starts covering 12 2/3 innings. The Guardians have lost each of his last five starts. For Cincinnati, left-hander Andrew Abbott is a player to watch. Abbott earned the win Friday, allowing one earned run over five innings with two strikeouts. Over his last four starts, he has posted a 1.66 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. The Reds’ offense has been productive in the series. Second baseman Matt McLain went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs on Friday. Left fielder JJ Bleday added three hits and an RBI. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Cleveland victory. The Guardians are -1.5 run favorites, with the over/under set at 8.5. Following the series, Cincinnati travels to Philadelphia for three games beginning Monday. Cleveland heads to Detroit for a four-game set starting Monday.
