PREVIEW: Giants at Athletics WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The San Francisco Giants and the Athletics open a two-game interleague series Saturday at Sutter Health Park, with first pitch scheduled for 7:07 p.m. San Francisco (18-26) enters with a 2-5 record over its last seven games after a split of a four-game series at the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Athletics (22-21) have dropped two straight after losing a three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals, falling 5-4 in Thursday’s series finale. Right-hander Landen Roupp will start for the Giants. Roupp is 1-3 over his last five starts but has shown flashes of dominance. He threw 7 2/3 innings of two-hit ball in a win over Miami on April 26 and fired five innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers on April 21. However, he has struggled lately, surrendering four earned runs in each of his last two outings — both losses — including a 5 1/3-inning, four-earned-run performance at the Dodgers on May 14. Left-hander Jacob Lopez counters for the Athletics. Lopez is 3-1 over his last five appearances but has also been uneven. He allowed six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings against Cleveland on May 2 but rebounded with a win at Baltimore on May 8 and took the loss Thursday against St. Louis despite allowing only two earned runs in five innings. He has not logged more than 5 1/3 innings in any of his last four outings. The teams played a scoreless game Friday — the most recent head-to-head meeting — which ended in a 0-0 stalemate after nine innings. San Francisco’s offense has struggled to produce consistently. Jung Hoo Lee was the offensive standout Thursday against the Dodgers, going 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. The Giants have averaged just 2.8 runs per game during their current 2-5 stretch. The Athletics counter with third baseman Zack Gelof, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and an RBI in Thursday’s loss. The Athletics have won three of their last four home games. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Athletics victory. The Athletics are installed as a -1.5 run-line favorite. The over/under is 9.5 total runs. After Saturday’s game, the teams conclude the series Sunday at Sutter Health Park. San Francisco then travels to Arizona for a three-game set beginning Monday. The Athletics head to Los Angeles for a four-game series against the Angels starting Monday.
