DENVER (Interstat) β€” The Arizona Diamondbacks look to build on a dominant series-opening win when they face the Colorado Rockies on Saturday afternoon at Coors Field. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. MDT, with temperatures around 83 degrees and partly cloudy skies. Arizona (20-22) sends left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound. Rodriguez is 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA this season, continuing a strong start to his campaign. He has not faced Colorado in 2026. Colorado (17-27) counters with rookie right-hander Tanner Gordon, who has struggled in his first five starts. Gordon is 0-5 with a 9.00 ERA, allowing 21 earned runs over 21 innings. He lasted only three innings in his most recent outing May 14 at Pittsburgh, giving up one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts in a 7-2 loss. The Diamondbacks won Friday’s series opener 7-1, snapping a two-game skid. Arizona had dropped consecutive games at Texas before the win. In Friday’s victory, right-hander Ryne Nelson turned in a quality start β€” 7 innings, 3 earned runs, 8 strikeouts β€” though he took the loss in the 6-5 defeat at Texas on Wednesday. Nelson has been a bright spot for Arizona, posting a 2.84 ERA over his last four outings despite an 0-3 record in that span. He is scheduled to start Sunday’s series finale. Colorado has lost three of its last four and six of its last nine. The Rockies’ offense managed just one run Friday and has been held to two or fewer runs in four of their last six losses. Outfielder Troy Johnston drove in both runs in Thursday’s 7-2 loss at Pittsburgh. The Diamondbacks have leaned on veteran third baseman Nolan Arenado, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in Wednesday’s loss at Texas. Arenado is hitting .276 with seven home runs. The Rockies will look to Gordon to provide length after the bullpen has been taxed early in the series. Right-hander Juan Mejia has been effective in relief, throwing a scoreless inning Thursday. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Arizona is favored to win 4-3. The ELO system gives the Diamondbacks a 65.5% probability of victory. Arizona is a -1.5 run favorite, with the over/under set at 11.5. The teams conclude the four-game set Sunday afternoon before Arizona returns home to face San Francisco on Monday. Colorado hosts Texas on Monday.
