BOSTON (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox will meet Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Fenway Park in the finale of a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. under cloudy skies and a temperature of 61 degrees. Philadelphia (20-23) has not announced a starter for Thursday. The Phillies are expected to choose between left-hander Jesús Luzardo (3-3) and left-hander Ranger Suárez (2-2). Boston (18-24) has not named its probable pitcher. For the Phillies, right-hander Andrew Painter is a player to watch. He took the loss Wednesday in the series opener, allowing one earned run on four hits over five innings with four strikeouts in a 3-1 defeat. It was a sharp rebound after two difficult outings: He gave up eight earned runs in 3 2/3 innings May 7 against Oakland, and surrendered three earned runs over five frames May 2 at Miami. For Boston, right-hander Sonny Gray is a key performer. He earned the win Wednesday against Philadelphia, working six innings of two-hit, one-run ball with six strikeouts. Gray owns victories in three consecutive starts, including four-hit shutout ball over five innings May 6 at Detroit. The Red Sox evened the series Wednesday after dropping Tuesday’s opener 2-1. Trevor Story went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI for Boston, while reliever Aroldis Chapman struck out three in a scoreless inning. Philadelphia took Tuesday’s game despite being held to two runs. Brad Keller and Tim Mayza combined for two scoreless innings of relief. Both teams enter Thursday looking to gain traction. The Phillies have lost three of their last four games, while Boston has dropped four of its last five. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 victory for Philadelphia. Its ELO system gives Boston a 51.00 percent probability of winning. Philadelphia is a -1.5 favorite on the run line. The over/under is 8 runs. Following Thursday’s contest, Philadelphia travels to Pittsburgh for a three-game series starting Friday. Boston visits Atlanta for a three-game set beginning Friday.
