CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox meet Thursday night at Guaranteed Rate Field for the finale of a three-game series, with left-hander Kris Bubic opposing Chicago right-hander Erick Fedde. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 51 degrees. Bubic (3-1, 3.38 ERA) will make his seventh start of the season for the Royals (19-23). The White Sox have won two straight in the series after splitting a four-game set in Kansas City from April 9-12. Chicago won 2-0 on April 9 before the Royals answered with back-to-back 2-0 victories April 10-11. The White Sox then took the finale April 12 by a 6-5 score. Tuesday’s walk-off win marked the second consecutive one-run game in the series, following a 3-3 tie Wednesday that was suspended due to rain. Players to watch Royals right-hander Luinder Avila has been effective in relief, posting a 1.80 ERA over his past three appearances. In Tuesday’s loss, Avila threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out two. Over his last five outings, Avila has a 2.45 ERA with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. Fedde has won three of his past four decisions. In his last start against the Royals, he worked five innings and allowed two runs. Over his previous two starts, Fedde threw 12 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs with seven strikeouts. By the numbers The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 White Sox victory.
