PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies look to complete a three-game sweep of the Athletics on Thursday night at Citizens Bank Park, where rain is in the forecast with game-time temperatures around 69 degrees. Right-hander J.T. Ginn (0-1) is scheduled to start for Oakland (18-17), while Philadelphia (16-20) counters with right-hander Andrew Painter (1-3). The Phillies have taken the first two games of the series, winning 6-3 on Wednesday and 9-1 on Tuesday. Philadelphia’s offense has produced 15 runs in the two games. Bryce Harper went 3 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs in Tuesday’s win, and Bryson Stott added a homer and two RBIs. The Phillies have won four of their last five games after dropping two of three in Miami over the weekend. Oakland lost two of three to Cleveland before arriving in Philadelphia, and the Athletics have dropped three of their last four overall. Luis Severino has been a bright spot recently for the A’s, though he took the loss Tuesday after allowing one earned run on seven hits over five innings with three strikeouts. Severino is 3-2 on the season, and in his three starts before Tuesday he pitched at least 6 2/3 innings each time, allowing one earned run in two of those outings. He was sharp April 29 against Kansas City, going seven innings with eight strikeouts. For Philadelphia, left-hander Cristopher Sánchez has been dominant of late. He threw eight scoreless innings Tuesday, allowing three hits and striking out 10 to improve to 4-2. Over his last two starts, Sánchez has allowed two earned runs in 14 2/3 innings with 17 strikeouts. He also beat San Francisco on April 30, allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings. The Phillies are listed as minus-1.5 favorites on the run line, and the over/under is set at 9 runs. The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-5 Phillies victory. Thursday’s game marks the end of a six-game homestand for Philadelphia. The Phillies host Colorado for three games starting Friday. Oakland travels to Baltimore for a three-game series beginning Friday.
