KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Interstat) — The Kansas City Royals seek a series sweep Thursday afternoon as they host the Cleveland Guardians in the finale of a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals (17-19) have taken the first two games of the series by scores of 6-2 and 5-3, pushing Cleveland (18-19) to a third consecutive defeat. Cleveland’s probable starter is uncertain. Slade Cecconi (1-4) and Seth Lugo (1-1) are both listed as possibilities. Players to watch Guardians designated hitter Rhys Hoskins has been productive in the series, homering and driving in three runs in Tuesday’s loss. In his last five games, Hoskins is 4-for-13 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Royals left fielder Isaac Collins went 3-for-3 with a home run and an RBI in Tuesday’s win. Michael Massey added two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs. Series history Kansas City has won five of the six meetings this season, including the past three. The Royals swept a three-game series in Cleveland from April 6-8, then took the first two games of this set. Forecast The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-3 Royals victory. Kansas City is a -1.5-run favorite, with the over/under set at 9. Up next Cleveland returns home Friday to open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins. Kansas City hosts the Detroit Tigers for a three-game weekend set beginning Friday.
