PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Luis Severino takes the mound for the visiting Oakland Athletics against Aaron Nola and the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. under clear skies with temperatures around 72 degrees. Severino (2-2) looks to build momentum for an Athletics team that enters at 18-16, coming off a 7-1 win over Cleveland on Sunday. Oakland has won four of its last six. Nola counters for the Phillies, who sit at 15-20 after a 1-0 victory at Miami on Monday. Nola tossed six shutout innings in that win, scattering five hits with five strikeouts. It was a sharp rebound from a rough April in which he posted a 7.04 ERA over four starts. The Athletics’ player to watch is pitcher Aaron Civale, who earned the win Sunday against the Guardians with six innings of one-run ball. Civale has been effective in two of his last three outings, allowing one earned run or fewer in each. Philadelphia’s player to watch is Nola, whose season has been inconsistent. He has yielded three earned runs or more in four of his six starts but delivered his best performance Monday. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Oakland victory, while its ELO system gives the Phillies a 59.8% probability of winning. The Athletics have won three of their last four road games. The Phillies have won three straight at home. UP NEXT: The two teams meet again Wednesday and Thursday before Oakland heads to Baltimore and Philadelphia hosts Colorado.
