Giants at Rays ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Interstat) — The San Francisco Giants and Tampa Bay Rays continue their interleague series Saturday at George Steinbrenner Field. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a forecast temperature of 83 degrees. Right-hander Landen Roupp (5-1) is scheduled to start for the Giants, who enter play with a 13-18 record. The Rays, 18-12, have not yet named their probable pitcher after Friday’s 3-0 victory in the series opener. Roupp will look to continue his strong start to the season. The 26-year-old has won four consecutive decisions, posting a 2.70 ERA over his last five outings. He has not faced Tampa Bay previously. The Giants have lost four straight games, including a 3-2 decision at Philadelphia on Thursday. Right-hander Logan Webb has been San Francisco’s most consistent performer despite a string of tough-luck losses. Over his last five starts, Webb has pitched at least six innings each time and owns a 3.24 ERA, but the Giants have lost four of those outings. He is not scheduled to pitch in this series. Tampa Bay has won seven of its last 10 games. Right-hander Drew Rasmussen has been effective in his recent turns, allowing one earned run over six innings in an April 24 win against Minnesota and tossing six shutout innings against the Yankees on April 12. He took a loss at Cleveland on April 29 despite allowing two earned runs over five innings. The Rays blanked the Giants 3-0 on Friday, with Tampa Bay pitching holding San Francisco to four hits. Saturday’s matchup features two teams heading in opposite directions. The Rays sit atop the American League East standings, while the Giants have lost seven of their last eight and sit in the basement of the National League West. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 Rays victory. The series concludes Sunday with a matinee before both teams continue their schedules. The Giants travel to play San Diego on Monday, while the Rays host Toronto.
