CINCINNATI (Interstat) – The Cincinnati Reds will try to bounce back from a lopsided loss when they host the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. under cloudy skies with a 58-degree temperature and rain in the forecast. The Reds (19-10) lead the NL Central and have won 10 of their last 13 games, but they were routed 13-2 by Colorado on Wednesday, evening the three-game series at a win apiece. Cincinnati won the opener 7-2 on Tuesday. Left-hander Andrew Abbott (0-2, 5.40 ERA) will start for Colorado. Abbott is still seeking his first win of the season after allowing four earned runs in 5.2 innings in a loss to San Diego in his last start. The Reds had not announced a starter as of Wednesday. Colorado (13-17) sits in fourth place in the NL West but has won four of its last five games. The Rockies’ offense erupted Wednesday for 13 runs on 16 hits, including three home runs. Shortstop Kyle Freeland is a player to watch for the Rockies. Freeland took the loss in Tuesday’s 7-2 defeat, allowing four earned runs on five hits over 5.0 innings with four strikeouts. He earned a win in his prior outing on April 7, tossing 6.1 innings of one-run ball against Houston. For the Reds, shortstop Elly De La Cruz has been on a tear. Over his last eight games, De La Cruz is hitting .323 (10-for-31) with four home runs and 12 RBIs. He went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs in Tuesday’s win over Colorado. In Wednesday’s loss, De La Cruz was held hitless in five at-bats. The betting line favors the Reds by 1.5 runs, with an over/under of 9.5 runs. The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-5 Cincinnati victory. After Thursday’s finale, the Rockies return home for a 10-game homestand beginning Friday against Atlanta. The Reds travel to Pittsburgh for a three-game series starting Friday. Colorado’s Andrew Abbott will need to keep the ball in the park against a Cincinnati lineup that has hit 35 home runs this season, tied for fourth-most in the National League. The Reds are 11-4 at Great American Ball Park this season.
