CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox play the second game of their weekend series Saturday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. under cloudy skies with a temperature of 69 degrees. The Nationals (11-16) will turn to right-hander Jake Irvin (1-3) to try to even the series. Left-hander Noah Schultz (1-1) also is listed as a probable starter. The White Sox (11-15) have not announced their starter, though right-hander Erick Fedde is available after earning a win in Friday’s series opener. Washington dropped the first game of the set 5-4 on Friday. Brady House, the Nationals’ designated hitter, went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Over his last 10 games, House has hit .308 with one homer and four RBIs while reaching base at a .367 clip. Erick Fedde delivered a quality start for Chicago on Friday, allowing one earned run on three hits over 5 2/3 innings with one strikeout. The White Sox have won four of their last six games. Chicago is coming off a 4-1 win at Arizona on Thursday and has posted a 6-3 mark in its last nine contests. The Nationals have dropped five of their last six, including four consecutive losses to Atlanta before Friday’s defeat. House remains a key piece for Washington’s offense. The infielder has collected at least one hit in seven of his last eight games, batting .308 during that stretch. Fedde has been effective in his last two outings, allowing one earned run over 10 1/3 innings combined. He limited the Nationals to three hits on Friday and has not allowed more than three runs in any start this season. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 victory for Washington. The ELO model gives the White Sox a 50.70 percent probability to win. Chicago is installed as a -1.5 favorite on the run line, with the over/under set at 9. The series concludes Sunday afternoon before the Nationals travel to New York to face the Mets for a three-game set beginning Tuesday. The White Sox host the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game series starting Monday.
