CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Sparks visit the Chicago Sky on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, in a WNBA matchup that will decide the season series between two teams seeking consistency. Los Angeles (11-17) arrives off a 106-101 victory at Portland on Sunday, snapping a six-game losing streak. Dearica Hamby had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Nneka Ogwumike added 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Erica Wheeler finished with 12 points and eight assists. Chicago (11-19) lost 106-101 to Phoenix at home Monday despite Kamilla Cardoso’s 16 points and 13 rebounds. Courtney Vandersloot added 16 points and 10 assists, and Natasha Cloud scored 13. The teams split their first two meetings. Chicago won 96-82 in Rosemont on July 17, and Los Angeles won 102-87 at home on July 10. Hamby has been the Sparks’ most consistent force. She had 18 points and 10 rebounds in a July 22 loss to Phoenix, 16 points and five rebounds in a July 19 loss at Dallas, and 17 points with seven rebounds in the July 10 win over Chicago. Cardoso gives Chicago a strong interior presence. She scored 26 points in a July 30 win over Connecticut, had 13 points and 11 rebounds against the Sparks on July 17, and posted 15 points and eight rebounds in the July 10 loss to Los Angeles. Interstat’s game simulator projects Chicago to win 95-92. The Sky are a 2.5-point favorite, and the over/under is 187.5. After Wednesday, Los Angeles plays at Minnesota on Thursday. Chicago hosts Indiana on Saturday, then plays three straight on the West Coast: two against Seattle and one against Golden State.
