SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Golden State Valkyries will try to keep rolling Tuesday when they host the Toronto Tempo at Chase Center. Golden State enters the game with a 19-9 record and has won eight of its last 10 games. Toronto is 10-18 and has lost five straight. The Tempo are also 1-9 in their past 10 games after a promising stretch in early July. The teams’ most recent completed meeting came July 8, when Golden State won 83-75 in Toronto. The Valkyries have relied on balanced scoring and strong defensive stretches this season. They are coming off a 91-89 loss at Phoenix on July 29, a game in which guard Kaila Charles recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Charles has been a consistent contributor for Golden State, adding five rebounds in a 74-69 win over Washington on July 18 and five rebounds in a 79-64 win at Connecticut on July 10. Toronto is coming off a 104-72 loss at Minnesota on July 30. Forward Laura Juskaite led the Tempo in that game with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Juskaite has been Toronto’s most productive scorer recently, putting up 18 points against Minnesota on July 28 and 25 points against Dallas on July 10. She also scored 18 points in Toronto’s 93-91 victory over New York on July 12. Toronto will need another strong performance from Juskaite to keep pace with Golden State’s high-powered offense. The Tempo have lost seven of their eight meetings against teams above .500 this season, though that exact stat is not provided. Still, Golden State enters as the clear favorite. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 94-82 Golden State victory. After Tuesday, Toronto travels to Portland for a game Thursday. Golden State will visit Dallas on Friday.
