WNBA: Mercury at Tempo Preview TORONTO (Interstat) β The Phoenix Mercury visit the Toronto Tempo on Saturday at Coca-Cola Coliseum in a matchup of teams looking to climb out of the bottom half of the league standings. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Phoenix (6-13) has lost seven of its past 10 games, though it enters on a high note following a 111-109 victory at Indiana on Wednesday. The Mercury have struggled to find consistency, but forward Alyssa Thomas has been a steady presence. Over her past 10 games, Thomas has averaged 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists. She recorded a 24-point, eight-assist performance in the win over the Fever, her third double-digit assist game in that span. Thomas leads a Phoenix offense that has scored at least 90 points in four of its past six contests, including a 102-point overtime loss at Los Angeles on June 13. Toronto (8-9) sits just above .500 but has dropped three of its past four. The Tempo lost 94-87 at Atlanta on Monday despite 21 points and 10 rebounds from forward Isabelle Harrison. Harrison has been a focal point of the Toronto attack, averaging 15.8 points and 6.6 rebounds over her past six games. She posted a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double against Atlanta, her second double-double of the season. The Tempo have been vulnerable defensively, allowing at least 100 points in three of their past four defeats, including a 113-91 loss at Indiana on June 16. These teams met earlier this season on May 19, with Toronto earning a 98-90 win in Phoenix. The Tempo have won two of the past three meetings. Interstatβs game simulator projects a 104-101 victory for Toronto. The Mercury will look to avoid falling further from playoff contention, while the Tempo aim to build momentum with a five-game homestand beginning July 5 against Dallas.
