KOTKA, Finland (Interstat) — The Connecticut Sun look to snap a two-game losing streak Wednesday when they face the Toronto Tempo at Coca-Cola Coliseum in this neutral-site WNBA contest. Connecticut (2-10) has lost seven of its last eight games, including an 85-80 defeat at Chicago on Friday. The Sun rank near the bottom of the league standings, struggling to generate consistent offense. Center Brittney Griner is the focal point for Connecticut. The 6-foot-9 veteran is averaging 12 points and 4.8 rebounds over her last four games, though she was limited to nine points in a win over Los Angeles on May 30 after playing just 15 minutes. Griner had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the loss to Chicago. Toronto (6-5) has won three of its last four, most recently an 85-68 victory over Chicago on Sunday. The Tempo boast the league’s third-highest scoring offense at 92.8 points per game. Guard Brittney Sykes has been on a tear for Toronto. She poured in 38 points on May 17 against Los Angeles followed by a 31-point outing against Phoenix two days later. Sykes is averaging 21.4 points over her last nine appearances while shooting 47% from the floor. The Sun will need production from their supporting cast. Forward Aneesah Morrow grabbed 17 rebounds against Chicago, and guard Saniya Rivers added 14 points in that same game. Toronto’s offense runs through Sykes and guard Marina Mabrey, who had nine points and six assists Sunday. Forward Isabelle Harrison added 14 points off the bench. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 104-98 Toronto victory. After Wednesday, the Tempo travel to Washington on Friday before returning home to face Atlanta on June 14. Connecticut hosts Indiana on June 13. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.
