CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Chicago Sky host the Toronto Tempo on Wednesday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., with both teams seeking traction in the early WNBA season. Chicago (3-3) opens as a 3.5-point favorite, per Interstat’s game simulator, which projects a 95-89 Sky victory. The over/under is 167.5 points. Toronto (3-4) arrives on a two-game losing streak, most recently a 99-80 defeat to Portland on Saturday. Kiki Rice led the Tempo with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists in that loss, continuing her consistent stretch. Over her past seven games, Rice has averaged 15.1 points and 4.0 rebounds while logging at least 18 minutes each outing, including a 19-point, five-rebound effort in a 106-96 win at Los Angeles on May 17. Chicago also comes off a loss, falling 85-75 to Minnesota on Saturday. Kamilla Cardoso posted 17 points and seven rebounds in that game, part of a strong recent run. The center has recorded two double-doubles in her past three contests, including 24 points and 11 rebounds against Dallas on May 20. Over her past six games, Cardoso is averaging 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds. The teams did not meet earlier this season. Toronto will look to snap its slide behind Rice, who has scored at least 11 points in six consecutive games. The Tempo have struggled defensively, allowing 99 or more points in three of their past four contests. Chicago will counter with Cardoso in the paint and aim to exploit Toronto’s defensive lapses. The Sky have split their past four games.
