NEW YORK (Interstat) — The New York Knicks will look to seize a commanding 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday at Madison Square Garden. Game 3 of the best-of-seven series tips off at 8 p.m. EDT. The Knicks (68-32) have won the first two games on the road, taking a 105-104 thriller on Friday and a 105-95 decision on Wednesday in San Antonio. The Spurs (74-29) own the better regular-season record but have been unable to solve New York’s balanced attack. The series has been defined by the individual duel between two of the league’s premier big men. Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama enters the contest after a 29-point, nine-rebound effort in Game 2. The 7-foot-4 star averaged 25.8 points and 10.6 rebounds over five games against the Thunder in the previous round, including a 41-point, 24-rebound, three-block masterpiece in a double-overtime win on May 18. He has been the focal point of San Antonio’s offense, but the Knicks have managed to contain his supporting cast. New York counters with center Karl-Anthony Towns, who posted 21 points and 13 rebounds in Game 2 and 18 points with 12 boards in Game 1. Towns has been a double-double machine in the postseason, recording at least 13 rebounds in three of the Knicks’ four playoff games against Cleveland. His ability to stretch the floor and draw Wembanyama away from the rim has been a critical tactical advantage. The Knicks have won four straight head-to-head meetings dating to the regular season, including a 114-89 rout at Madison Square Garden on March 1. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 118-104 victory for the home team. Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday at Madison Square Garden, with the series potentially returning to San Antonio for Game 5 on Saturday.
