ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels meet Wednesday, July 29, at Angel Stadium for the second game of a four-game series. The series opener Monday saw Houston win 6-4 before Tuesday’s game was postponed. Right-hander Cristian Javier (2-3 in his last five outings) will start for the Astros (53-55). Javier pitched five scoreless innings in that Monday victory, allowing three hits and striking out seven. He has allowed one earned run over his last six innings total. Right-hander Walbert Ureña (2-2 in his last four appearances) will counter for the Angels (42-65). Ureña was the losing pitcher Monday despite a quality start: six innings, two hits, one earned run, five strikeouts. He has allowed just two earned runs over his last 15 2/3 innings, striking out 15. The Astros have won five of eight meetings this season, including the last two. Houston’s offense averages 4.6 runs per game against Los Angeles in 2026. An Interstat game simulator projects a 5-4 Astros victory. Both teams are well out of playoff contention. Houston begins a six-game homestand Friday against Texas and Toronto.
